Labeled by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as 'the principal architects of Southern rock', the Allman Brothers Band is a band from Macon, Georgia. The Allman Brothers band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida on March 26, 1969 and had Duane Allman (slide and lead guitar), Gregg Allman (vocals, organ), Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums) and Jai Johanny 'Jaimoe' Johanson (drums).

Out of them, Duane and Gregg were the real Allman brothers and had been a part of three bands: Escorts, Allman Joys and the Hour Glass. After commercial failure of the last band, everyone was released from the contract except Gregg, whose 'Liberty' had some commercial potential. Duane started jamming with the other band members and bringing in 'Jaimoe' made the nucleus of the band. Gregg was still fulfilling the contract with Liberty Records but was summoned back to Jacksonville by Duane to 'fill out the band and sing'. Rolling Stone's George Kimball described them as being 'the best damn rock and roll band this country has produced in the past five years'.

The Fillmore East album listed as one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and was certified gold. Shortly after, Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident on October 29, 1971. Shocked at the loss of a leader, the band worked hard and the album continued to gain FM radio airplay. The stations played 13-minute and 23-minute selections and new listeners were not even aware of the loss the band and the music world had suffered. 'Eat a Peach' came out in 1972 and was softer ('Blue Sky', 'Little Martha') and wistful in tone ('Melissa', 'Ain't Wastin' Time No More'), capped by the 34-minute 'Mountain Jam' reverie taken from the Fillmore East concerts. Writer Greil Marcus thinks that parts of Eat a Peach are ageless and seamless like an after-the-rain celebration; like front-porch music stolen from the utopia of shared southern memory.

The jessica Allman Brothers band concert started to tear apart due to different reasons. Some had solo careers and Allman Brothers had personal turmoil as he married and separated from Cher. Drug abuse finally took its toll. An uneven 'Win, Lose or Draw' (1975) was the result and the only high ranking songs were a stop-start take on Muddy Waters' 'Can't Lose What You Never Had', Betts' instrumental 'High Falls', and Allman's Jackson Browne-influenced title song. The Allman Brothers jessica band reunited in 1989 and started appearing regularly on the American summer outdoor amphitheatre circuit. Warren Haynes (guitar, vocals), Johnny Neel (keyboards and harmonica), and Allen Woody (bass guitar) joined originals Allman, Betts, Jaimoe and Trucks leaving out Leavell who is now a touring member of Rolling Stones. Younger music fans continued to throng the concerts as Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks lineup paired up with popular jam bands.

Their impressive jamming and improvisational abilities earned them eleven Gold and five Platinum albums between 1971 and 2005. The Allman Brothers were a major attraction at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2003 and 2005. They have also staged their own two-day Wanee Music Festival at the Spirit of Suwanee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. jessica Allman Brothers band' songs have been used in various advertising especially 'Jessica' that also won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Currently, Duane Allman is #2, Warren Haynes is #23, Dickey Betts #58 and Derek Trucks #81 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Ranked 52nd on the 2004 Rolling Stone Magazine list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and the Jessica Allman Brothers are still recording and touring on concert.
