American country music singer, virtuoso guitarist, and songwriter from Glen Dale, West Virginia, Brad Paisley was born on October 28, 1972.
His maternal grandfather gave Paisley his first guitar at age 8 and taught him how to play. This was the start of his love of country music. Brad wrote his first song at age 12 and by 13 he was the opening act for country singers such as Ricky Skaggs and George Jones.
After graduating from John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, West Virginia, he studied at West Liberty State College and was awarded a full-paid ASCAP scholarship to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee from 1993 to 1995. He met Frank Rogers who later became his producer and Kelley Lovelace who later became his songwriting partner.
Brad Paisley wrote David Kersh's top 5 hit, 'Another You,' after signing a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing. 'Who Needs Pictures' released on February 22, 1999 marked his singing debut.
Brad Paisley made his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry in May 1999 and seven months later he had his first #1 hit with, 'He Didn't Have To Be', which detailed the story of Lovelace and Lovelace's stepson.
Brad Paisley appeared on the TLC special, 'Route 66: Main Street America' in 2000 featuring Brad Paisley and band doing rare live and acoustic versions of Route 66 (song). 2000 ended with Paisley winning the Country Music Association's (CMA) Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music's best new male vocalist trophy.
Brad Paisley music was inducted into the Opry Hall of Fame on February 17, 2001. 'I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)' won the CMA Music Video of the Year in 2002.
Brad Paisley's third album, Mud on the Tires (2003) featured the hit song 'Celebrity,' that was a parody of reality shows like Fear Factor and American Idol and included such celebrities as Jason Alexander, Jim Belushi, Little Jimmy Dickens, Trista Rehn, and William Shatner.. He performed with Alison Krauss in the video for 'Whiskey Lullaby'.
'Time Well Wasted' released in 2005 containing 15 tracks, including 'Alcohol', a duet ('When I Get Where I'm Going') with Dolly Parton, another ('Out in the Parking Lot') with Alan Jackson, and 'Cornography'.
Paisley also contributed two original songs to the Disney film Cars.
