Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen or more commonly known as "The Boss", is of the most famous singer and songwriter America has ever seen. Bruce Springsteen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey on September 23, 1949 with the name of Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen. He was a son to his father Douglas Frederick Springsteen who was of Irish and Dutch Descent and worked as a Bus Driver, while he was son to his mother, Adele Ann Zirilli who was of Italian Descent and worked as a legal Secretary. Springsteen spent his childhood in Freehold, New Jersey, where he also received his high school education from Freehold Regional High School. Springsteen also has an elder sister Virginia and a younger sister Pamela.
Springsteen was inspired to enter the music career at the age of seven when he saw the concert of King of Pop himself, Elvis Presley on The Ed Sullivan Show. Springsteen made his entrance to the music industry as he went to the house of Tex and Marion Vineyard, by whom young bands were sponsored in the town. From there he went on to be a guitarist in a band named The Castiles and later moved on to be band's lead vocalist. So Bruce along with his band started recording and started playing on different venues. Springsteen released his debut album, "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.", as he signed a record deal with the Columbia Records in 1972. The album was released in January 1973, and became a mild success as of the sales, who ever it received critical acclaim, so did his second album, The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle. The album was released in September 1973. His second album was a bit different in a sense that his first album was more of folk rock genre, while his second album drifted a little and had more R&B sound to it.
Later Bruce Springsteen along with his E Street Band started appearing on a Five-night, 10-show stand at New York's Bottom Line club, and received huge media attention, and later Springsteen found the success that he was looking for as he released his long awaited album titled, Born to Run, on August 25, 1975. Several singles from the album received major radio airplay and became instant fan favorites'.
Springsteen released he next album in 1978, after his legal battle with his former manager Mike Appel was settle that prevented him from recording any other studio albums. The album was titled "The Darkness on the Edge of the Town", and is referred to as the turning point of his career as his music seemed to be more carefully drawn.
Springsteen's next album, The River, came out in 1980, which was his first album ever to get him a hit Top Ten Single, which was "Hungry Heart". The River was followed by another studio release Nebraska, which was an acoustic album, and showed more depressed side of Springsteen. Springsteen next studio release was "Born in U.S.A" which is supposed to be his best album ever, released in 1984. It became a best selling album after selling over 15 Million copies is US only.
The next studio albums released were Tunnel of Love, Human Touch, Lucky Town, The Ghost of Tom Joad, The Rising, Devils and Dust, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions and Magic, which came out in 1987, 1992, 1992, 1995, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively. Bruce Springsteen is currently on a tour along with his E Street Band. The tour is scheduled to end on 30 August, 2008.
