Mexican-American comedian, actor, and star of the ABC sitcom, The George Lopez Show, George Lopez was born on April 23, 1961, in Mission Hills, Los Angeles, California.
Born to a Catholic family, he grew up in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles, California. Abandoned by his parents, he was raised by his grandmother who is the centre of many of his jokes. Other than her, his humor is drawn from the financial poverty of his upbringing and of the Latino community in general.
In 1996, George's first album 'Alien Nation' was released. 'Right Now Right Now' came out in 2001. Out of his four albums of recorded stand-up comedy shows 'Team Leader' was nominated for a 2004 Grammy for Best Comedy Album. Released on Oglio Records/Warner Bros. 'Team Leader' shot to great public acclaim. 'El Mas Chingon' was released in September of 2006.
Released on the Touchstone/Fireside division of Simon & Schuster, his autobiography 'Why You Crying?' released in May 2004 and entered in the New York Times Bestsellers top twenty. The book is co-written by Emmy Award winning writer and sportscaster Armen Keteyian.

George Lopez was a cast member and commentator for HBO's hit sports show "Inside the NFL" for the 2003-2004 football season.
