American country music singer, Kenny Chesney was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has a degree in advertising from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
Kenny Chesney started by playing tunes at local places like Chucky's Trading Post, a small Mexican restaurant, and Quarterbacks BBQ and recorded his first album in 1991 at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, Virginia. He made about a thousand copies and bought himself a new Martin guitar by the profit generated.
Kenny Chesney went to Nashville after graduation and performed regularly at HounDogs and at a southern club called Turf. BMI and Opryland Music Group signed a contract with him in 1992.
Released on the independent Capricorn Records label in 1994, 'In My Wildest Dreams' was Chesney's first album but the lead-off singles reached the lowest regions of the charts and the label folded after10,000 copies. 'All I Need To Know' was Kenny's first major label album and had one of his first album's lead-off single, 'The Tin Man'.
'Fall in Love' was his first major hit to reach the Country Top 10 in 1995. His other hits include 'Me and You' (1996), 'When I Close My Eyes' (1997), 'She's Got It All' (1997), 'How Forever Feels' (six weeks in 1999), 'The Good Stuff' (seven weeks in 2002), 'There Goes My Life' (seven weeks in 2003) and 'When the Sun Goes Down' (a duet with Uncle Kracker; three weeks in 2004). Notable No. 2 hits include 'That's Why I'm Here' (1998), 'Young' (2002), 'Big Star' (2003), 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem' (2003), 'The Woman With You' (2004) and 'Who You'd be Today' (2005).
Kenny Chesney has performed several traditional country songs at his shows and concerts and has won the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year honor in both 2004 and 2006. Keny chesney is a close friend of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
In January 2005, keny Chesney released the album 'Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair', supporting the album with his Somewhere in the Sun Tour and in November 2005. The album was a lower key affair sonically than most of Chesney's recent albums. 'The Road and The Radio' was Chesney's second album of that year with the song 'Living in Fast Forward' being one of the hits from the album.
Kenny Chesney married actress Renee Zellweger on an island in the Caribbean on May 9, 2005 and filed for an annulment only after four months of marriage citing 'fraud' as the reason for the annulment. They both believed that 'fraud was the broadest of the available legal reasons for which annulments could be filed in California. He stated that he thought he knew what it felt like to be married but he did not. He said this in his interview with Anderson Cooper on the February 18, 2007 episode of 60 Minutes.
Kenny Chesney was presented with a plaque commemorating his sales of 25 million albums in February 2006 and was honored at the Academy of Country Music Awards as Entertainer of the Year on May 23, 2006.
