After spending a tumultuous childhood marred by parental divorce issues and constant shuffling around, current bassist and co-lead vocalist Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 was able to reconnect with his older sister Anne after he dropped out of college in 1992. Having played bass whilst in high school in bands such as the Descendents and Bad Religion, Mark co-founded Blink-182 with Tom DeLonge whom he met through his sister and released a string of demo tapes until they were able to get themselves signed on to Cargo Music Records the following year. After causing a modest stir with their debut album Cheshire Cat in 1994, Blink-182 started making their way up the ranks in the big leagues with their sophomore offering Dude Ranch, which eventually got certified platinum, took on Travis Barker as their new drummer and broke into the top ten of Billboard 200 with Enema of the State in 1999.
