Dave Mathews turned into a band in Charlottesville, Virginia, in early 1991. The vocalist, guitarist, singer, song writer Dave Mathew's history began when he decided to convert his songs he had written on tape. Instead of merely recording himself with a guitar, Mathew opted to bring in some instrumental help to put forward his musical ideas more profundity.

Dave found assistance in drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both dexterous jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville music scene. On the recommendation of illustrious local jazz guru John D'earth, Stefan Lessard came on board to play bass. Peter Griesar completed the crew of the band and left it after a couple of years.

David John Matthews, running in Charlottesville as a bartender at Miller's bar in November 1990, gained attention of Hoffman. Hoffman convinced Matthews to get engrossed with Carter Beauford, a local musician on the Charlottesville music scene. He had been in copious bands earlier and is presently playing on a jazz show on Black Entertainment Television (BET).

In April 1991, Dave Matthews Band gave its first appearance and set the stage on fire at the town of Charlottesville's Earth Day Festival. May 11, 1991 was the first executive recital for the recently conceived Dave Matthews Band. Within a little time, utterance of the band's infectious new echo spread like wildfire throughout and even across the county. The fan base grew at an implausible rate, clubs started to fill up and tours began to swathe more territory.

On Bama Rags label, DMB released its first album, 'Remember Two Things' on November 9, 1993, which was recorded live in August of 1993 at the Muse Music Club on Nantucket Island. The album debuted on College charts as the highest independent entry.

In 1994, Dave Matthews Band recorded its RCA debut, 'Under The Table' and 'Dreaming' and hit the road for their first official national tour. The tour lasted well over a year. In 1995, 'Under The Table' and 'Dreaming' had been certified four times platinum by the RIAA. This made the band to return to the studio to record its next album. On April 30, 1996, Band's second RCA studio album was liberated. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart.

Throughout 1997, Dave Mathews Band continued with a stable schedule of touring, headlining sold-out amphitheater dates across NorthAmerica DMB. Their third studio album was released on April 28, 1998. The band issued its fourth album on October 23, 2001, 'Live In Chicago', featuring guest musicians such as Maceo Parker and Victor Wooten.

In order to promote his album 'Some Devil', Dave Matthews began a tour in December 2003. Dave's Friends included Tim Reynolds, Brady Blade, Tony Hall, Trey Anastasio and Ray Paczkowski. In the fall of 2004, they returned to the studio and sustained to silhouette their next album. Mark Batson, a well-known producer has offered DMB to come to Virginia and produce the album.
