Skrillex or Sonny Moore as he was known before he became famous is originally from California. He was born and raised in Los Angeles. He first came to prominence in 2004 when he approached Matt Good with an offer to play guitar in his group From First to Last . And the rest as is famously said is history. He came on board and soon was heard singing by the producers of their first album who felt he had the voice and the talent to be the lead singer for the band. And so he became lead vocal for the group From First to Last .

The first album featuring Skrillex as a lead singer with From First to Last was released in 2004 and became an instant hit leading to many successful tours for the band. The band’s second album was released in 2006 and also became a commercial success and the band further embarked on many successful tours. But, they later had to withdraw from many planned tours as their lead vocalist was having some voice problems. He after having a surgery, decided to focus on his individual career and informed the band about his decision.

Skrillex presented his promotional clips that were titled as Equinox , Signal and Glow Worm on web in late 2007 and this led to his first solo performance along with harpist Carol Robbins. He extensively used Myspace for his promotional videos and audio clips and he kept on releasing further of these using the same platform for quite some time. Later he was featured on Team Sleep tour and released tour exclusive CDs as well in the same time period, he used a unique way of reaching out to his fans by using a baby blue packaging for CDs and each package had an exclusive drawing by him or a band member that played with him on that tour.

Using social networking web pages like myspace was a very wise and new approach used by Skrillex which worked tremendously in his favor. Relying on social web portals where members were able to listen to his music free of cost, he quickly generated for him a huge fan following. And with increased number of hits every day, he was a star on his own and people were dying to see him perform live in concerts and gigs around the country. Soon his music was playing in pubs and clubs across the nation and young people were dancing to his tunes. Taking a cue from the success of Skrillex,different musicians have tried to replicate the same technique with success. But no one has been as popular as him of course.

In 2008, Skrillex featured on the second AP tour along with The Rocket Summer, Forever the Sickest Kids, All Time Low and The Matches. Most of the shows during this tour were sold out and the shows covered Houston Texas, North America and Cleveland, Ohio. An additional feature of this tour was that all bands that performed on the tour were featured on the cover of special annual addition of Alternative Press magazine. After the release of his first EP, he went on a number of tours with different other groups during this time period including Paper Route, Hollywood Undead and he even opened for Chidos on their European tour.
