Colorado Rockies Tickets

The Colorado Rockies are one of the newest members of the MLB. The team is still trying to get a foothold in the league but the signs for the future are very positive. The transition period looks set to end every soon to turn the franchise into a major side in Major Baseball League. One thing is for sure, it is one the best followed side in the country with fans buying Colorado Rockies tickets and setting attendances records.

The Colorado Rockies joined the league as part of the 1993 expansion when the MLB approved the formation of two new sides from Colorado and Florida. The team made its debut with an away game at the Shea Stadium where they come up against the New York Mets on 5th April, 1993. They made their home debut just four days later against the Montreal Expos at their amazing Mile High Stadium. The game was the Rockies first ever win in the league but that wasn’t the only positive to come out of the match. 80,227 fans bought Colorado Rockies tickets to watch their team in action thus creating an attendance record that still stands today. As it was the team’s first season, it petered out but they created another attendance record when over four million fans attended their games over the course of that season, a landmark that will not be surpassed anytime soon.

The Colorado Rockies got their first winning record the very next season. Their explosive hitters like Andres Galarraga and Dante Bichette smashed thirty one and twenty seven home runs respectively. The franchise led the table attendance wise once again with over 3.2 millions fans buying Colorado Rockies tickets to make it another memorable season. They would have even bettered their attendance record for the previous season if it a strike hadn’t curtailed the season. In 1995, after some very sensible additions to the team, the Rockies won their first seven games out of eight. They moved to their new ground the Coors Field and made their first appearance in the playoffs. They eventually succumbed to the team that was to go and be crowned world champions the Atlanta Braves but not before creating another attendance record for the season.

The next few years were not too eventful for the team on the whole but it did provide some individual highlights. In 1996, three players from the team scored over forty home runs which helped create an MLB record of 658 home runs scored at home. Larry Walker won the NL MVP award in 1997.  In 1998, the Rockies welcomed Todd Helton on board. Although the team wasn’t going through one of its golden periods, Helton was establishing himself as an amazing player. 1999 saw the arrival of Dan O’Dowd as the General Manager who started to give the club a new direction.

A lot of changes were made to the players and they worked as the team had another winning season and a lot of it was due to the exploits of Helton. More changes were made to the side in the next few years and the team started the 2007 season slowly. However they switched through the gears just in time and went on an amazing run of fourteen wins out of their last fifteen games to end the season. That run earned them a wild card playoff spot with the Padres. When the two sides faced off it was the Colorado Rockies that came out on top to reach the playoffs. The Phillies were beaten in the playoff series and the Diamondbacks were swept in the NLCS. The franchise was now on a run that stood at twenty wins and one loss thus making the Rockies only the third team in more than fifty years to get to that win-loss record. The Colorado Rockies once again made their way to the playoffs in 2009 in another historic season. The team won ninety one games during that season, the best in the side’s history and bettered their twenty two games above .500 record set in the year 2007.

The Colorado Rockies are now starting to get their bearings right which augers well for the future. The team is definitely on the rise to become one of the elite sides in the league. The fans know something really special is around the corner so they will buy Colorado Rockies tickets to ensure their side gets the backing it deserves.
