The Lehigh Valley IronPigs were playing at Ottawa as Ottawa Lynx before coming to Pennsylvania. The team was based in Ottawa for over a decade playing their home games at the Lynx Stadium . During this period, the team’s major league affiliations were with Baltimore Orioles and Montreal Expos. In the late August, the team made a deal with Allentown, Pennsylvania. Allentown didn’t have a team with major league affiliation for the longest of time and they had their eyes on Lynx. They had two independent baseball teams in place; the Allentown Ambassadors and Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds. Their last major league affiliated team was in the sixties called Allentown Red Sox.

The IronPigs has already finished their first few seasons in the sport and is anticipated to attain the top ranking in the North Division of the International league. Their last league title was at Ottawa in 1995 and since then the team is under a dry spell. Right from their opening season, they kicked off at the wrong side of the game. It took them eleven thrashes to win their first game, since then the struggle continues. Their best season so far has been the 2009-10 season. They finished as the second runners up of this season and their winning average was 0.493.

The hitting coach of the team Sal Rende is also working hard on technique and precision. The IronPigs’ infielders Pete Orr, Kevin Frandsen, Brian Bocock, Josh Barfield, Ronnie Belliard, Jeff Larish and Tagg Bozied are all set to oust their competitors out of the field with their exceptional performance. The outfield is manned by Rich Thompson, Scott Podsednik, Brandon Moss and Delwyn Young . The two catchers of the team are John Suomi and Erik Kratz.
