Philadelphia Phillies Tickets

The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the oldest baseball teams in the country. They have an interesting past but the consistent success of the last decade or so has established them as one of top teams in the country. The team has gone through a lot of transitions but they have stuck to it and the perseverance has finally paid off culminating in one of the most successful eras in history. None of this would have been possible without the support of their fans who have bought Philadelphia Phillies tickets every step of the way to help their team become the success it is today.

The Philadelphia Phillies were known as the Quakers when they were conceived in 1883 which soon turned to Phillies. Four years after its inception the team moved to their own home the Baker Bowl and the management got to work to bring success to the side. The franchise won the first pennant in their history in 1915 when they were crowned as the best team in the league. The trip to the World Series final ended unsuccessfully and the management went back to the drawing board to start from scratch.

The Philadelphia Phillies rise to prominence started in the early part of the 1940’s when William B.Cox bought the franchise in 1943. The gradual rise in the profile ensured fans bought Philadelphia Phillies tickets to come and support their side and support they did. Bob Carpenter Jr then bought the side to ensure the team keeps on treading on the right path. In 1950, the Phillies beat the LA Dodgers in a humdinger of a series to make their way to the World Series finals. Young players joined up with some experiences pros to take the team almost to another trip to the world championships in the year 1964.

The turn of the next decade brought a move to their new ground the Veterans Stadium in 1970. The Philadelphia Phillies stock began to rise once again and they won a hat trick of division titles in 1976, 1977 and 1978. They went a step further in 1980 to win the NL East title and beating the Houston Astros to win another pennant. The pennant win enabled the team to have another crack at the world title where they came up against the Kansas City Royals. It was a historic series for the Phillies who were crowned world champions for the first time in their history to cap off a memorable season. Mike Schmidt won the NL MVP award as well as the World Series MVP for his exploits with the bat. Two more playoff appearances followed in 1981 and then in 1983 but they couldn’t get their hands on a second world title.

The next few years were again spent in rebuilding the side which resulted in the Philadelphia Phillies winning the NL in 1993 to earn another pennant. After another few mediocre seasons the management decided to do something about it to bring consistent success to the team. In 2004 the team moved to the brand new Citizens Bank Park and by the end of the season Charlie Manuel had been appointed as the manager. A major revamp of the franchise’s structure started under the guidance of General Manager Pat Gillick which resulted in the team being crowned division champions in 2007. The foundations laid in 2007 were taken a step further when the Philadelphia Phillies won the division title, the conference championship and made their way to the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The series ended with the franchise beating the Bay Rays in five games to clinch their second world title. That triumph was followed by their third straight NL East Division crown in 2009 a feat repeated for the first time since the seventies.

The Philadelphia Phillies are certainly on their way up as the success garnered in the past few years have shown. The last five years have been the most successful in the team’s history that have culminated in five straight division titles, two pennants and a world title. They are rated as one of the favorites to clinch the world title this season as well with a squad that is a perfect blend of experience, youth and skill. With so much on the line there is no doubt fans will buy Philadelphia Phillies tickets to make sure the rise to the top doesn’t falter.
