San Francisco Giants Tickets

As soon as the spring training draws to a close the focus shifts to the serious stuff of the MLB season. One of the teams to beat over the course of history has been the San Francisco Giants. They are one of the biggest and greatest teams to have ever played the sport accumulating multiple awards and accolades over the course of their glorious history. They are always there or thereabout at the top of the league fighting for every major trophy so with the stakes so high their fans buy San Francisco Giants tickets to play their part in making sure their team doesn’t falter.

The San Francisco Giants were known as the Gothams when they were established and became a part of the National League in 1883. Five years after their debut the Gothams ended the season with the best record in the league which earned them their first NL pennant. The team also went on to win an earlier version of the World Series in 1888 and 1889. Soon after that the name changed to the New York Giants due to them being based in the NYC during those days. After a lean patch John McGraw was hired midway through the 1902 season to get the team back on track.

The McGraw era started with a bang and the team won the world title just three years after his appointment. The team went all the way to World Series finals three years in a row from 1911 to 1913 but came up short on each occasion. Major revamping was done to take the team that one step further and the hard work paid off as soon as the next decade started. The Giants were crowned champions twice in a row when they reached the top of the pile in 1921 and 1922. After three successful decades McGraw stepped down and Bill Terry replaced him in 1932. Bill carried on with the successful traditions of the Giants, playing three finals and winning one in 1933. They also won three pennants for being the best team in the league. After some not so successful years Leo Durocher became the manager in 1948 to start another revolution that was to last for eight years. The Durocher era was a hugely entertaining for the Giants fans that saw legends like Willie Mays step up to the plate and bring another world championship for the Giants in 1954.

Four years after that triumph the franchise re-located to San Francisco and changed its name to the San Francisco Giants.  The switch to the new city had its share of problems which stopped the franchise from fulfilling its potential but with the support of the fans the team stuck to it and reached the World Series in 1962 where they were beaten in an epic series against the Yankees by four games to three. The next seasons all the way to the 1980’s weren’t too successful that forced the management to do something about it.

Rebuilding started and the San Francisco Giants started to pick up the pace in the 80’s by winning two division titles and an NL pennant. Another rebuilding phase started in 1997 with Brian Sabean being appointed the General Manger which resulted in the franchise being crowned division champions. In 2000, the team moved to its magnificent new stadium now known as the AT&T Park.  During the decade the franchise won two division titles in 2000 and 2003 to go with one NL pennant in 2002. All this success provided the base to once again launch the team to the level it aspired to and that is exactly what happened at the end of the decade. The San Francisco Giants started the 2010 season slowly and not a lot of people gave them a chance to go anywhere with that. The Giants picked up their game when it mattered and not only reached the World Series finals but won it to capture their seventh world title.

The San Francisco Giants have been through a lot of rough times but they have always come out fighting to become one of the most legendary teams in baseball history. The biggest factor to their rise over and over again has been the support of their fans who regularly buy San Francisco Giants tickets to sell-out their games home and away. You cannot put this legendary team down and for that respect is due, after all seven world titles is not something to be sniffed at.
