Over the next twenty five years, he made great additions to it including the conservatory, the mammoth pipe organ and a huge network of fountains. In accordance with the terms of Du Pont’s will, after his death in 1954, the Longwood Foundation Inc. was set up for the maintenance and improvement of the gardens. Du Pont left most of his money to this foundations and the Longwood Foundation runs the management of Longwood Gardens to date.
