The All American Rejects were formed in the year 1999 by Nick Wheeler and Tyson Ritter when they were both attending high school. The two met by chance at a gig where Nick was performing and when Tyson asked him to become the bassist, they formed the All American Rejects. One year later in 2000 the duo recorded their self-titled demo tape that contained a total of a dozen songs. As soon as 2001 came around, they started to record their debut album titled The All-American Rejects and released the first track Swing, Swing by the end of the next year. After adding Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor to their line-up they went on a tour. The All American Rejects had signed for DreamWorks Records by that time which then re-released their first album on a broader scale. That step took the album to the masses and Swing, Swing became a major hit that announced the arrival of the group in style.
To celebrate the success of the album, All American Rejects went on another tour which was their debut headlining road trip called Too Bad for Hell Tour. They released their debut live collection titled Live from Oklahoma… The Too Bad for Hell DVD! That turned out to be a huge hit and was certified Gold for its efforts. The group followed that up with their next album Move Along in 2005. Tracks like It Ends Tonight, Move Along and Dirty Little Secret became huge hits which in turned the album a two times Platinum rating. As 2006 drew to a close, the All American Rejects started to work on their next album, When the World Comes Down.
Due to some commitments the album got delayed but not for long and the first track from the album titled Gives You Hell was officially released on 8th October, 2008. The song went straight to the top on various charts that helped create a huge hype for the album itself which duly came out on 16th December, 2008. It lived up to expectations to go Gold in more than one country. Gives You Hell turned out to be the most played track of the year 2009 and went to the top of the Top 20 Countdown chart by VH1. 15th August,2009 made All American Rejects a part of the historic MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia. It was the first ever concert MTV World Stage show to be held live in Asia and as members of that historic show the band shared the stag with acts like Boys Like Girls, Kasabian, Raygun, Pixie Lott and Hoobastank. That performance enhanced their profile in Malaysia and helped them sell over fifteen thousand copies of When the World Comes Down.
