The
All American Rejects were formed in the year 1999 by
Nick Wheeler and
Tyson Ritter when they were both attending high school. The two met by chance at a gig where Nick was performing and when Tyson asked him to become the bassist, they formed the
All American Rejects. One year later in 2000 the duo recorded their self-titled demo tape that contained a total of a dozen songs. As soon as 2001 came around, they started to record their debut album titled
The All-American Rejects and released the first track
Swing, Swing by the end of the next year. After adding

All American Rejects had signed for
DreamWorks Records by that time which then re-released their first album on a broader scale. That step took the album to the masses and
Swing, Swing became a major hit that announced the arrival of the group in style.
To celebrate the success of the album,
All American Rejects went on another tour which was their debut headlining road trip called

Oklahoma… The Too Bad for Hell DVD! That turned out to be a huge hit and was certified

Move Along in 2005. Tracks like
It Ends Tonight, Move Along and
Dirty Little Secret became huge hits which in turned the album a two times
Platinum rating. As 2006 drew to a close, the
All American Rejects started to work on their next album,
When the World Comes Down.

Gives You Hell was officially released on 8
