Bruce Springsteen was born on 23
rd September, 1949. He developed his love for music at the age of seven when he saw the legendary
Elvis Presley play on a show. Soon afterwards he bought his first guitar and joined his first band,
Castiles, in 1965. After two years he left the band and went to play small gigs at local clubs in the area of Asbury Park, NJ. These performances gave him a taste of stage performances and he joined his next group
Earth for just a short while. Bruce then went on to become a member of his next group
Steel Mill, formerly known as Child and that venture was a minor success. The band used to play in California and started making a reputation for themselves but in 1969 the group broke up and
Bruce Springsteen had to go and form his own group
Dr.Zoom & the Cosmic Boom. The band didn’t work out like he planned so he went solo and started playing gigs in NYC. Soon he was joined by his manager Mike Appel who was instrumental in getting Bruce his first recording contract with Columbia Records in 1972.
