Diamond Rings started his career as one of the members of The D’Urbervilles, a post-punk band he founded alongside Tim Bruton, Greg Santilly and Kyle Donnelly. Following this, he founded pop duo Habitat with Sylvie Smith, at the time a member of The Barmitzvah Brothers. In 2008, after graduating from the University of Guelph with a degree in Studio Arts, he began writing and releasing songs. Many of these were written when he was a patient at a hospital, receiving treatment for having Crohn’s disease.

In 2009, Diamond Rings released his first single via Hype Lighter on a seven inch vinyl disc, released as a limited edition.  This single was titled as All Yr Songs and a music video was made on it, featured heavily by channels such as CBC and media such as Pitchfork Media and Exclaim! In 2010, he released yet another single, again on a seven inch vinyl disc, through Tomlab records, a German record label. This single was titled as Wait & See, featuring vocalist Gentleman Reg from Toronto. The other side of the disc featured the a cover of On Fire, a song by Sebadoh.

The music video for Diamond Rings’ next single premiered on Pitchfork Media, to much acclaim. Several months later, he released another single, this time inspired by Chicago house music. It was released through One Big Silence records. A music video on this song also attracted a lot of attention with his music compared to that of Britney Spears, Klaus Nomi and even Nirvana.

In 2011, Diamond Rings released his first album, titled as Special Affections through the Canadian label, Secret City Records. It received rave reviews from the media, from AllMusic, Pitchfork Media and Exclaim! It featured a cover of The Gentleman Who Fell, a song by Milla Jovovich. It featured string arrangements by Owen Pallett, famous Canadian musician and recipient of the Polaris Prize.

After the release of his debut album, he started performing live, opening for Swedish pop icon Robyn in her American tour in 2011. He also toured with the band PS I Love You. He also started a special six-week remix series, featuring special artists including Handsome Furs, Theophilus London and Junior Boys.  Near the end of the year, he signed onto Virgin EMI Records subsidiary, Astralwerks Records.

In 2012, he released an album titled as Free Dimensional, music from which is bound to be heard live at his concerts. These are shows that are undoubtedly a must see, by grabbing hold of Diamond Rings tickets.
