Ennio Morricone grew up in Rome, the capital of Italy, and began learning music at the age of nine, enrolling in a conservatory at the age of twelve. He soon received a diploma for the trumpet and started working as a professional. He soon became wildly popular in Italy and during the fifties; he earned two more diplomas in composition and instrumentation for band. He also began ghost writing music for other film composers.
