Keith Urban Tickets
Australian country music singer, Keith Urban was born in Whangarei, New Zealand. His talent for singing became apparent at an early age. His family moved to Queensland, Australia and young Urban already had plans to take the music business by a storm. He began learning the techniques at age six, became confident enough to make his mark in Nashville by 7 and started winning young singing contests by age eight. By 15, he had quit school to pursue his dream. Keith's first solo album music came out in 1990 and charted four No. 1 country hits in Australia. He was back to Nashville in 1992 as he wanted a piece of the largest country music market in the world. Before forming a three-piece group, The Ranch, he played back up guitar for Brooks & Dunn. The group later disbanded in 1998 after the release of one album.
Keith Urban had been using cocaine for a while but had the courage to own up and check into a treatment center called Cumberland Heights in 1998. The act sure paid off as his self-titled American debut was released in 2000 which produced three top 5 hits and secured for him the Top New Male Vocalist Award at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards and the 2001 Country Music Association's Horizon Award. He has also performed as a session musician on albums such as Garth Brooks' Double Live, the Dixie Chicks' Fly, and Paul Brandt's This Time Around because of his guitar skills. Urban had the nerve to appear semi-nude in photos accompanying an interview for Playgirl magazine and on the cover of the April 2001 issue.
Golden Road released in 2002 and the single "Somebody Like You" showed his career into new heights spending eight consecutive weeks at the top of the charts, remaining at No. 1 longer than any other country artist in 2002. His skills and stage-craft toned up as he worked as a supporting act for Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney. His first headlining arena tour titled Keith Urban Be Here '04 was sponsored by Country video channel CMT. A very successful tour called Alive happened in '05 with Katrina Elam. Keith's performance at the Live 8 Philadelphia concert on July 2, 2005 and in the Gap's "Favorites" campaign got him the title of 2005 CMA's Entertainer of the Year. Livin' Right Now, a DVD recorded in at the Wiltern Theater in California came out in late September 2005.
European audiences saw him in May, 2005 as he supported Bryan Adams on his UK and Ireland tour. Keith Urban released his UK only album Days Go By on June 6th, containing songs from both Be Here and Golden Road. Kaith Urban later returned in October for a headlining tour with Nerina Pallot as support act. Keith Urban has performed live in many of his well-known songs at different award shows including the Grammy Awards where he performed with Faith Hill. He also won the Toyota Starmaker Contest.
Keith Urban's record setting single "Once in a Lifetime" debuted at #17 on Monday August 21, 2006. It was the highest-debuting country single in the 62-year history of Billboard's country charts and broke Garth Brooks' record. Keith Urban is now again on the tour for the concert.
