American stand-up comedian, Louie Perry Anderson was born on March 24, 1953 and was raised on the east side of Saint Paul, Minnesota. One of eleven children, Louie?s first audience was his family and many of his early experiences are the cornerstone of his comedy act. His material involves his relationship with his mother and father; and many life experiences.

While working as a counselor for troubled children, Louie won a first-place trophy at the Midwest Comedy Competition in 1981. He was then hired as a writer. He made his television debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1984. Louie Anderson was cast as Larry Appleton alongside Bronson Pinchot who played Balki Bartokomous on the pilot episode of Perfect Strangers for ABC in 1986. He was later replaced by Mark Linn-Baker as the chemistry wasn?t quite right between the actors and the show lasted for seven seasons on ABC.

Created and produced by Anderson, Saturday morning series ?Life with Louie? started in 1995 and became a three year hit on FOX. It was based on his childhood. Louie Anderson created and starred ?The Louie Show? for CBS in 1996 where he played a psychotherapist living in Duluth, Minnesota but it was cancelled after a brief run.

Louie Anderson became the third host of the game show Family Feud in 1999 after beating out popular country singer Dolly Parton for the role. He initially started out with a lot of energy and enthusiasm making considerable changes but got bored with it soon enough and left in 2002 being replaced by Home Improvement star Richard Karn. He upped the prize money to $20,000 which helped the ratings rise considerably. He also put together a special 9/11 tournament between the New York Fire Department and the New York Police Department, where Anderson himself put $75,000 of his own funds towards both organizations in helping the recovery of the September 11, 2001 disaster. Louie Anderson expected the show to end soon but as of 2007 it is still going on.
