Boz Scaggs was born as William Royce Scaggs in Ohio US in 1944. He started playing music at an early age he started playing the guitar. In 1959 he met Steve Miller and joined his band called Steve Miller Band as the lead singer. This duo kept on playing while attending University of Wisconsin and was temporary members of known blues bands like The Fabulous Knight Trains and The Ardells. While Scaggs was with Steve Miller the band released two albums namely Children of the Future and Sailor, both these albums charted at #134 and #24 respectively on US Billboard Top 200. Scaggs left Steve Miller to pursue a career in solo music and was given a chance to exhibit his musical abilities by Jann Wenner who the publisher of Rolling Stone magazine .

Michael McDonald was born in 1952 in the city of St. Louis in Missouri. McDonald is primarily a singer and song-writer but he can fluently play instruments like piano, keyboards and guitar. His music career started in 1971 as a singer with an underground group called Blue. Later on he joined the very famous Steely Dan group as an extra singer and recorded the famous song Katy Lied as a back-up singer. In 1975 he was hired as a temporary touring singer by the famous band Doobie Brothers as the band’s lead singer was ill, McDonald did so well on the tour that eventually he was retained in the band as a permanent member.

If That What it Takes was released in 1982 and till date it remains his highest charting album as it went to #10 on US R&B and #6 on US Billboard 200. He was judge at the 6 th annual Independent Music Awards and in 2003 he was honored with a star on the famous St. Louis Walk of Fame.
