New Edition Tickets
New Edition is a Boston based R&B band that was formed in 1978 by Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins, under the guidance of producer Maurice Starr. Soon, the band was joined by Ralph Tresvant, who became the lead singer of the group later on. The band was named “New Edition” by Brooke Pyane, the choreographer and Travis Grisham the group manager. The name refers to the band being the new version of Jackson 5. Initially, the band performed randomly around the state of Massachusetts. If you wish to attend their upcoming concert, you can buy New Edition tickets now!
New Edition started recording their very first studio album “Candy Girl”, in 1982, releasing it in 1983. Their debut album featured hit songs such as Popcorn Love, Is This the End and Jealous Girl. All three of these songs made it to the American and British R&B charts at number one. Their second album was self-titled, and included hits such as Mr. Telephone Man and Cool It Now. In 1985, the band released their third studio album named “All For Love”. Their member Bobby Browne was exiled from the band after the release of third album due to behavioral problems.
New Edition continued promoting their third studio album, peaking charts despite their financial problems. The same year, the band appeared in Knight Rider’s episode, performing the song Count Me Out, followed by the release of the cover song Earth Angel which made it to #21, and was chosen as the soundtrack for the film “The Karate Kid II”. Year 1986 also saw the release of their album “Under the Blue Moon”. Their fifth studio album “Heart Break”, released in 1988 featured a number of their hit songs such as You’re Not My Kind of Girl, Crucial, If It Isn’t Love and Can You Stand the Rain.
New Edition went on a short hiatus, returning in 1990 with their album “Poison”. The album was triple platinum. In next five years, the band members took on their side projects, and by the 1997, almost all of them had made success in their respective projects. The band planned a reunion the same year, and got together to record a new album by the name “Home Again”. The album peaked R&B Album chart and Billboard 200 in the very first week of its release. This reunion record is up till date the band’s most commercially successful album, selling more than four billion copies around the globe. However, this success wasn’t enough to resolve the old conflicts between the band members, and in the middle of their album tour, Mike Bivins and Bobby Brown left.
After the rise of new conflicts, the band members went their separate ways once again, with even harder feelings this time around. In 2004, the remaining band members released another studio album named “One Love” which made it to Billboard 200 at #12. However, in 2005, the band invited Brown to perform their old hit Mr. Telephone Man with them. In 2006, the band appeared along with Bobby Brown to perform at “Koger Center” in Columbia. The concert was named “Spend the Night with New Edition”. The band also promised a new album. In 2009, New Edition presented a tribute medley for Michael Jackson at BET Awards.
In 2008, the band released “Candy Girl 25th Anniversary Edition” album. On 3rd of July, 2011, the fans saw all six members of New Editions united at “Essence Music Festival”. They announced that they will be starting a world tour soon in celebration of 30 years in music. Apart from the combined band success, Brown, Tresvant and Gill have made a mark in their solo careers as well. For now, the band is busy preparing for the promised world tour.
