Arizona Diamondbacks Tickets

The first professional baseball team in Arizona is an expansion team called Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona got it in 1996 and the team debuted March 31, 1998 against the Colorado Rockies with over 50,000 fans in attendance. The team lost but Arizona Diamondbacks first hits, home run, run, and RBI all by one player, Travis Lee. 5 days later they won their first game, a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Arizona Diamondbacks even had a 7 game winning streak and signed up superstar ace, Randy Johnson. This winning streak is a MLB record for an expansion team.

After an unsuccessful first season of 97 losses, they won 100 games and the National League West Division Title in 1999 all due to Luis Gonzales. Arizona Diamondbacks were later defeated in the first round of the Divisional Playoffs by the New York Mets.

While the 2000 season disappointed the fans, the 2001 season held major improvement with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling having Cy Young type seasons. Luis Gonzales hit an amazing 57 homeruns and by the end of the season, the Arizona Diamondbacks won 92 games and captured their second division title. Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves and made it to their first World Series in only their 4th season of existence, quite remarkable and a MLB record. They defeated the New York Yankees in a remarkable 7 game series with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling sharing the World Series MVP Award.

The 2002 season started off great and 2003 was again disappointing as the team placed 3rd in their division. The 2007 Arizona Diamondbacks are all ready for the new season. Their young hitters have assembled into solid position players and the line up includes shortstop Stephen Drew and outfielders Carlos Quentin and Chris Young. Arizona Diamondbacks started '06 in Triple-A and are now matured enough, ready for the major league.

Outfielder Eric Byrnes is the only 30+ player and he hit 26 homers last season. Chris Young is an outstanding defensive center fielder who was acquired from the Chicago White Sox for Javier Vazquez last off-season. He is a potential Rookie of the Year candidate in '07. Second baseman Orlando Hudson will be teamed up with Drew to play middle infield and provide sound defense. The ballpark is relatively small and should ensure a good amount of runs.

It seems that Arizona Diamondbacks are all set but they will be starting out the season under the radar in spite of having a talented pool of rookies. The young hitters of Arizona Diamondbacks should produce results and if they do they surely make other teams in the NL West squirm late in the season. Some might think that the teams needs more time to develop but Diamondbacks general manager Josh Byrnes is very confident about this lineup. He thinks that they are ready to perform to the best of their abilities and time will disclose their talents. So, stay tuned for some exciting baseball this season at Chase Field. Don?t forget to grab your seats and tickets while they still last.
