Brooklyn Nets Tickets

The professional basketball team from New York City, the Brooklyn Nets are members of the National Basketball Association (NBA) through the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team enjoys a huge fan following in the larger area of New York City, despite the fact that they are not the only NBA franchise in the area and have to share their fan base with the New York Knicks. As a result of this Brooklyn Nets tickets are always in high demand.

A lot of people find it strange that the Nets have won the New Yorkers hearts in such a short time. The reason for this is probably the fact that the Nets are based in Brooklyn and the Knicks are based in Manhattan. So it is mostly people of Brooklyn who are excited to have a team of their own, but despite this having two teams from New York participating in the NBA provides the city with an extra edge.

The Brooklyn Nets were the founding members of the American Basketball Association in 1967. Back then the team was called New York Americans, and their rivalry with the Knicks started from those early years. The team was supposed to play in Manhattan at the 69th Regiment Armory, but due to pressure from the Knicks the deal could not be finalized. At the eleventh hour the team moved to Teaneck Armory in New Jersey. The name was changed to New Jersey Americans. The team’s performance in their first season was more than satisfactory and they were in a tie with the Kentucky Colonels for the final spot in the Eastern Division playoffs.

For their second year, the team chose the Long Island Arena and their name was changed back to New York Nets. The performance of the team in its second year was dismal and was sold at the end of the season to Roy Boe. The attendance at their games was very low and what the team needed now was for a star on their roster. In the 1969-70 season the team was able to make it to the playoffs for the very first time, and at the end of the season was able to sign Rick Barry who by many was considered a great small forward by many basketball observers.

The team made it to the ABA Finals in 1972, and in 1974 made it to the finals again. This time with the help of their star player Julius Erving they won their first championship title. For the 1975-76 season the team again won the championship title. In the summer of 1976, the merger between ABA and NBA took place and the Nets became part of the NBA.  The Brooklyn Nets have yet to win an NBA Championship but the team has won two Conference titles and four Division titles.  Come out in full support of you favorite team this season by purchasing Brooklyn Nets tickets.
