Cotton Bowl Classic is an annual football game tournament that is played among some of the top teams of the Big 12 Conference. The event usually takes place around the start of New Year and has been regularly going on for the past seven decades. For the past many years the event is sponsored by Southwest Bell Corporation and since 2006 it is known as AT&T Bowl Classic. From the start till 2009 the official venue for the event was Cotton Bowl Stadium, this is a happening stadium which houses teams and events like Dallas ISD, TicketCity Bowl and Dallas Desire. The venue for Cotton Bowl in 2010 was moved to the Cowboys Stadium which is located on 1 Legends Way in Arlington Texas. Teams that take part in the event include Kansas State Wildcats, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas Longhorn, LSU Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tennessee Volunteers and Mississippi Rebels.
Kansas State Wildcats as evident by their name are a group of fourteen varsity teams that play under the patronage of the Kansas State University. The Wildcats are headquartered in Manhattan City in Kansas. Kansas State Wildcats history goes back to the early 1900’s when they played as part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, from the year 1928 till 1996 they were part of the famous Big Eight Conference along with teams like Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, St. Louis, Oklahoma and Colorado. Currently the Wildcats play in NCAA Division 1 and are member of the Big 12 Conference which includes apart from the previous Big Eight, some other teams like Texas Tech, Missouri and Baylor University. Kansas State Wildcats are among the very few teams in NCAA who have an official single color logo that is purple only two other University teams have a one color logo and they are Syracuse (they have orange color) and Harvard (their color is Crimson). The official mascot of the Wildcats is Willie the Wildcat and fight song is Wildcat Victory.
Kansas State Wildcats compete in a number of sports such as baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis, track and field, football and Cross country. The basketball home arena of the Wildcats is Bramlage Coliseum, for baseball the official stadium is Frank Myers Field at Tointon Family Stadium, when it comes to football the venue is Bill Snyder Family Stadium for other games the arena is Ahearn Field House. In football the Wildcats have shown a fine performance and till date they have got five Conference championships to their name. when it comes to men and women basketball the overall team performance is amazing as the men’s team has got nine Conference titles and twenty-five NCAA Tournament appearances whereas the women’s team has also won accolades for the University with eight regular Conference Championships, two Conference titles and eighteen NCAA Tournament appearances.
Cotton Bowl Classic: Kansas State Wildcats is one event that everyone is talking about, till date the Wildcats have played in the event three times and they have registered one win and two losses. The Wildcats are definitely looking forward to improving their winning record to two wins and two loses. In the last few years Mississippi Rebels won the Cotton Bowl Classic in 2009-10, 2011 game was won by the LSU Tigers.
