Winnipeg Jets Tickets
The Winnipeg Jets, commonly known as “the Jets” among their fans, are a professional Canadian ice-hockey team. Part of the National Hockey League (NHL), the team has been reformed recently.
Founded in the late 1990s, the team was initially known as the Atlanta Thrashers and was based in their namesake city, Atlanta. The team had a checkered career and made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs just once, throughout its 12-year run. As a result, the team was eventually purchased by a Canadian franchise-owning company, which moved the team to Winnipeg, Manitoba. And so, the Winnipeg Jets were born.
The newly-reformed team started its first sports season in 2011. The first batch of Winnipeg Jets tickets for the season sold out within minutes of their sale being made open to the public. After that, a waiting list for the tickets was started, but then quickly shut down because eight thousand people had signed up for it in two hours. Clearly, anticipation was high among hockey fans.
As part of its revival, the Winnipeg Jets recruited new personnel. The most notable change in this regard was the hiring of a new head coach, Claude Noel. The team also had a new captain, Andrew Ladd. The roster of the team also boasted an auspicious line-up. The Forwards included such notable athletes like Nik Antropov, Alexander Burmistrov , Chriss Thornurn and Ollie Jokinen and many others. The Defencemen included, among others, Dustin Byfuglien, Paul Postma, Mark Stuart and Grant Clintstone. Rounding out the roster were the team’s two goalies, Al Montoya and Ondrej Pavelec. The home arena of the team is the MTS Centre in Downtown Winnipeg, Canada. The management of the Jets also introduced a new logo and even a new color scheme for the team’s jerseys. Needless to say, the Winnipeg Jets underwent a complete and thorough overhaul.
Now that the team was recreated from the ground-up, it was set to make a major comeback and was poised to be a much bigger crowd-draw than it used to be when it was known as the Atlanta Thrashers. And the Winnipeg Jets did exactly that. Before the year was out, the team made it to the Eastern Conference’s top eight standings, with an amazing 13-6-1 home record. This was achieved without even a single empty seat.
In a year marked by many tragedies in the world of professional hockey, the return of the Winnipeg Jets has been hailed as an “unforgettable highlight” of 2011. The Jets have made a startling comeback and have proven to be much a better team than their earlier incarnation as a foreign franchise. The team has been continuously and consistently climbing in prominence. The Jets have won the approval of fans and sports analysts alike and seem to be on right path in the current season as well.
So whether you are a huge hockey fan or sports enthusiast in general, Winnipeg Jets tickets are a must have and are available now.
